DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. – Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders was cited for misdemeanor careless driving Tuesday morning after he was involved in a minor crash while driving on a median, authorities say.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on Chambers Road near Main Street in Douglas County.

Deputy Chad Teller tells Denver7 Sanders was driving northbound on the median when another vehicle also pulled onto the same median and hit his vehicle. Teller said deputies at the scene reported that it “appeared” Sanders had been trying to get around traffic and that the other driver was trying to do the same.

Teller says both Sanders and the other driver suffered very minor injuries, and that both were cited for misdemeanor careless driving and will receive court summons. Sanders reported a headache, Teller said.

Denver Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth confirmed that Sanders had told the Broncos about the crash and citation, and said Sanders was evaluated by team trainers and was then cleared to practice. He was at practice Tuesday.
