Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller wrote on social media Thursday, "There's no chance I play under the 2016 season under the Franchise tag."

Miller, an active social media user, posted the comment on Instagram.

Miller also wrote, "I love my Teammates, Coaches, and My Fans."

The Super Bowl MVP rejected a contract proposal that would have made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press last week.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of negotiations, said Miller's representatives rejected a six-year, $114.5 million offer that included $39.8 million in guarantees in the first two years.

Broncos general manager John Elway imposed a June 7 deadline for talks with Miller because he wanted Miller to attend last week's mandatory minicamp and not miss the entire offseason program.

The Broncos placed their exclusive franchise tag on Miller. If the sides don't return to the table and work out a deal, Miller would play the 2016 season under the one-year $14.129 million tender. That's the deal Miller is referring to in his Instagram post.
