DENVER – Last Friday, Adam Jones made a surprising admission. He told Denver7 he was not in the plans to play defense against the Los Angeles Chargers, his role relegated to special teams.

“I am not sure what’s going on. I am grading out well in practice,” Jones said.

Simply put, he knew his days were numbered. The Broncos moved on from the veteran defensive back Tuesday as the former Pro Bowler posted his exit on Instagram.

“Well, Denver it was good. Thanks for the opportunity,” wrote Jones, who had played fewer than 40 snaps over the last month and could be replaced on by punt return by either DaeSean Hamilton or River Cracraft. “Onto the next!!!”

With Jones gone, it creates an opportunity for a former failed draft pick Brendan Langley. Langley, a third-rounder in 2016, could not gain traction as a rookie, exposed in a game against the Raiders following Aqib Talib’s ejection. The Broncos cut Langley in training camp after the arrival of rookie Isaac Yiadom.

However, Langley has progressed on the practice squad this season, and the club is looking to develop young depth alongside Chris Harris Jr. with the expectation Bradley Roby will not be re-signed as a free agent.

In other news, the Broncos signed offensive lineman Cyrus Kouandjio to replace Max Garcia on the 53-man roster.
