CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- It wasn't Michael Jordan with a fax. Or a haunting child taking a call from a pink telephone in "Poltergeist." But it was memorable, nonetheless.
"I am back!" roared Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib on Monday at his locker.
After a three-game absence due to a lower back injury, the Broncos star returned with vengeance and passion. He believes his absence has left him in position to make a strong push, not unlike DeMarcus Ware last season. Talib stayed in Colorado during the bye week to ramp up his conditioning. He has delivered his best season as a Bronco, putting himself squarely in the argument for All-Pro honors. Talib owns three interceptions, and returned one for a touchdown to seal the Broncos' win over Indianapolis on Sept. 18.
"I feel great, like I am going to finish great. My legs feel extra fresh," Talib said. "I have been watching Kansas City for two weeks. They know what we're going to do and we know what they are going to do so it will be a good fight."
Defensive end Derek Wolfe joined Talib at practice. He suffered a hairline fracture in his right elbow against the Oakland Raiders. He told Denver7 he hoped to return against the Chiefs. His goal remains realistic.
"It felt good," said Wolfe, who will wear a brace for the remainder of the year. "I was able to move around pretty good."
Wolfe limited interviews Monday because he was under the weather. His bye week brought a new wrinkle in his appearance: a thin mustache.
"I want to look nasty," said Wolfe.
