CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- The search for quality depth never ends. The Broncos began preparing for the season opener Thursday by assembling a huge chunk of their practice squad with familiar names.

Denver filled eight of 10 practice squad vacancies with players from training camp. Those who contributed the most and were welcomed back included fullback Juwan Thompson, receiver Mose Frazier, Paxton Lynch's former teammate at Memphis, and outside linebacker Vontarrius Dora.

Kapri Bibbs edged out Ronnie Hillman and Thompson for a final roster spot. Thompson was a valuable contributor on special teams last season, but struggled to stay healthy.

Frazier thought he had a chance to make the 53-man roster after a strong performance against the Arizona Cardinals.

"I can sleep well. I left it all out there and gave them something to think about," Frazier said.

Dora proved a pass rushing force, conjuring images of Shaquil Barrett in his first training camp. Barrett, too, landed on the practice squad and worked his way into a critical backup role last season. Dora is a bit of a project, learning new techniques not employed in college.
