CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- The NFL informed the Broncos and Aqib Talib that the cornerback will not face discipline for an off-field incident last summer when Dallas police determined Talib shot himself.
After a four-month investigation, the Dallas Police Department elected not to file charges, concluding their case in the June 5 shooting. Talib initially told police he was was "too intoxicated" to remember what occurred when he was shot in the right leg in a park. Video surfaced of Talib arriving at the hospital as he limped into the emergency room.
Following the conclusion of the Dallas PD investigation in October, NFL officials told Denver7 they were still reviewing the incident for possible league punishment. An NFL source told Denver7 the Broncos were informed that Talib will not be banned for any games.
Talib, 31, delivered his best season a year ago, earning All-Pro honors despite missing three games with a back issue. In three years with the Broncos, Talib owns 10 interceptions and has returned five for touchdowns. Talib missed the Broncos visit to the White House following the shooting. He was eased back into training camp, sitting out multiple weeks until he regained strength in his leg. He returned, saying how grateful he was to be playing again. He rewarded the Broncos by helping them lead the NFL in fewest passing yards allowed for the second straight season.
