Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are starting their own podcast. Their newly-formed production company, Archewell Audio, has announced a multi-year partnership with Spotify to produce podcasts and shows. Their debut will be a holiday special hosted by the royals that will be available later in December 2020.

“What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction,” the couple said in a joint statement. “With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are.”

The first complete series from the partnership will premiere in 2021 and be available to stream for free via Spotify. You can listen to a trailer for Archwell Audio here.

“This is also a moment to celebrate kindness and compassion, something we saw in so many places this year and which will underlie everything you hear from Archwell Audio,” Markle says in the trailer.

The podcasts are designed to build community through shared experiences and values. In that spirit, the holiday podcast will feature inspirational guests telling stories of hope.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may live in California, but the power of their voices rests in their status as citizens of the world,” Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s chief content and advertising business officer, said in a press release. “That they are embracing the extraordinary capacity of podcasts on Spotify while also seeking to elevate underrepresented voices is a testament to their appreciation for the potential of audio storytelling. We are proud to partner with The Duke and Duchess and look forward to listeners hearing directly from them and the other creators that they will be elevating via our global platform.”

The couple relocated to Montecito, California, earlier this year, after announcing their intention to “step back” as senior members of the royal family and become financially independent.

In September 2020, they signed a deal with streaming giant Netflix. As part of the multi-year deal, they will produce documentaries, docuseries, movies, scripted shows and children’s content.
