If you don’t have a lot of kitchen counter space, keeping up with the washing and drying of dishes can quickly become a perilous stacking game during which you’re just waiting for the cereal bowl perched on top of the pile of pots and pans to come tumbling down.
That’s why this roll-up over-the-sink drying rack seems like such a great idea. It turns your sink space into an extra drying area and can be tucked away when not in use.
Here’s a video from the brand’s Facebook feed that shows it in action:
The heat-resistant, stainless steel silicone rack can also double as a surface for draining freshly rinsed vegetables or as a resting spot for hot pots and cookie sheets. Or for whatever else you can think of!
“Aside from drying dishes, I have several hanging house plants that I set on my rolling rack to water,” wrote one Facebook commenter. “Let them sit for a while and let them drip.”
Another commenter mentioned that she uses it in her small camper’s kitchenette.
When the rack gets dirty, it can be cleaned right in your dishwasher!
The product, made by Surfinng is on sale for $10.95 (normally $30.99), plus shipping.
I bought a similar drying rack over a year ago. Recently, while we’ve been sheltering in place, I’ve been using it a lot more often, as we seem to go through dishes faster now that everyone is home 24-7. The one we have is sturdy enough for heavier items like the dutch oven you see drying below. I also like how the silicone coating keeps items from slipping around on it.
Another bonus is that since it covers your sink opening, you’ll have to put those dry dishes away sooner rather than later in order to use your sink again. Yay, motivation!
You can also buy similar roll-up drying racks on Amazon in different colors and sizes.
It also seems like the over-the-sink rack would dry items faster than those sink grids that sit at the bottom of your basin.
What do you think? Could you use one of these?
