NEDERLAND, Colo. -- Rich and Bonnie Lampright knew they had lost their home in the Cold Springs Fire, but they were hopeful a trailer full of Rich’s father’s WWII memorabilia survived the flames.

"There were some really nice art pictures of his B-25 that somebody had painted,” said Lampright.

When the two were granted access to their property for a couple of hours on Wednesday, their biggest fears were realized.

The trailer and everything in it were charred.

“His flying helmet worn in WWII, a leather flying helmet with his earphones in it so he could talk to the front of the aircraft,” said Lampright.

Lampright was able to save a few pieces that were hung in the house before they ran from the fire.

Lampright said now all of those pieces of memorabilia are stored as memories in his mind.
