Grass fire continues to burn on Fort Carson training range

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — A 210-acre grass fire continues to burn on a Fort Carson training range.

The fire broke out on Thursday and smoke was visible along the Highway 115 corridor. The public may still see this smoke Friday. Emergency personnel from Fort Carson Fire and Emergency Services and its partners responded to the fire.

The fire was reported at 30 acres as of 4 p.m. Thursday but grew to 210 acres by Friday morning. It was 40% contained as of 9 a.m.

Fort Carson Fire's partners were released from the fire.

Fort Carson spokeswoman Brandy Gill said no structures or people are threatened.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
