LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — The Cameron Peak Fire burning in Larimer County has reached 34% containment ahead of a Red Flag Warning for weather conditions Friday.
Fire officials have issued a Red Flag Warning for Friday afternoon with wind gusts expected around 30-35 mph as well as low humidity and warm temperatures. Peak burning conditions are expected from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Thursday's good weather conditions helped decrease fire behavior and allowed for more direct work on the fire perimeter. Containment measures allowed the Larimer County Sheriff to lift voluntary evacuation orders for County Roads 44H and 27 to Pennock Pass. A full list of evacuation orders can be found here.
The fire started in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests near Cameron Pass and Chambers Lake Aug. 13. Its cause is under investigation. The Cameron Peak Fire is the third largest fire in Colorado's recorded history at 125,436 acres.
A statewide open fire ban is in effect for all of Colorado through Oct. 7.
