SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — All pre-evacuation orders for the Ptarmigan Fire near Silverthorne were lifted Monday at noon, and the fire was 55% contained as of 4:30 p.m.
This lifting of the pre-evacution orders applies to the neighborhoods of Hamilton Creek, Angler Mountain, South 40, and areas of Ptarmigan including Daley Ranch.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office said the roads that were closed for the fire have reopened as well. However, all trails in the area, plus North Pond Park, will remain closed.
As of Friday evening, the fire was 20% contained. By 4:30 p.m., Summit Fire and the U.S. Forest Service said the fire was 55% contained. The forest remains closed in the area.
Officials said Monday afternoon the fire remained at about 86 acres. Its cause is still under investigation, and 150 personnel remain assigned to the fire.
The authorities said containment will increase through the week, and the Summit County Sheriff's Office will hold a community meeting when the fire is fully contained.
Evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes on Thursday after mandatory evacuations were lifted. Earlier in the week, more than 500 homes were under evacuation or pre-evacuation notice.
The nearby Dillon Reservoir is the largest water storage facility owned and operated by Denver Water, and the U.S. Forest Service used helicopter to collect water from the reservoir to suppress the flames. The Forest Service will work with Denver Water to report on how much water was used.
"It’s just one small way Denver Water partners with others to reduce the threat of wildfire to its operations, people and watersheds," Denver Water said.
