There are now 270 firefighters battling the Beaver Creek Fire in north-central Colorado.
The fire, which started June 19, has burned 13,275 acres. It is five percent contained.
A community meeting will be held Tuesday at the Wattenburg Center, 686 County Rd 42 in Walden from 6 to 7 p.m.
The fire is burning 15 miles northwest of Walden, near the Wyoming border.
The Forest Service said firefighters are continuing to patrol structures for hot spots and heavy equipment is being used to improve escape routes in the event of fire movement.
"With lower humidity firefighters on the Beaver Creek Fire have witnessed smoldering fire behavior change to open flames," the Forest service said Tuesday.
The new estimated containment date is October 15.
