MESA COUNTY, Colo. – A woman and her young daughters who were reported missing late Thursday while on a hike on Grand Mesa were found by search and rescue crews Friday afternoon.

The trio—a 40-year-old woman and her daughters, aged 8 and 10—were last seen around 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Flowing Park Overlook. A search and rescue operation got underway Friday morning for the three.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office identified the hikers later Friday as Marshia Peterson, 40, Signe, 10, and Zophie, 8.

The sheriff's office said just after 2 p.m. that the three were found on Grand Mesa and were safe. It's unclear how they went missing.
