GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- A missing 2-year-old girl kidnapped in Tennessee was found safe 1,500 miles away in Grand Junction.
Skyla Wilson was found Wednesday during a multi-agency traffic stop on I-70 in Grand Junction after an anonymous tip, Bradley County [Tennessee] Sheriff Eric Watson explained Friday during a news conference.
Skyla was last seen by her custodial grandmother on August 4 when she was picked up for a weekend visit by her father, Michael Wilson, who does not have custody.
Wilson is being held in Grand Junction on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, Watson said. The sheriff said his office is seeking to extradite Wilson back to Tennessee.
The sheriff and Skyla's grandmother flew to Grand Junction to bring Skyla home.
Skyla's grandmother, Clara Hancek, said Friday that now that Skyla is home, she'll get the birthday party she didn't get earlier this month.
