MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. – A person is dead and a Montrose County Sheriff’s Office deputy is injured following a shooting Friday afternoon.
The shooting happened in the west end of Montrose County at around 3:45 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect in the shooting died at the scene. Denver7 was not immediately able to confirm what led to the shooting between the suspect and the officer.
The officer is set to undergo surgery on Nov. 12 to remove bullet fragments from his hand.
“At this time, the incident is being investigated by the Montrose County Sheriff's Office, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Seventh Judicial District's Critical Incident Team,” an official said on Facebook.
