The ex-wife of the man accused of shooting and killing three people at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood last week says she isn’t surprised about the accusations.
Barbara Mescher is one of three of the suspected shooter's ex-wives.
Their marriage lasted nearly a decade and she told ABC News in an exclusive sit down interview that the marriage was marked by abuse.
“One time he beat my head on the concrete floor about ten times over something that made no sense at all,” she said.
She said it wasn’t until she heard that he was accused of raping a woman that her family helped her decide to leave him.
Her son told her about last week’s shooting.
"I think we were shocked at what he did but with his history”, she said, “I don’t think that it’s something that really surprised us, sadly.”
She says the alleged shooter once told her he’d put glue on the locks of the doors at the Planned Parenthood building in Charleston.
