VIRAL: 82-year-old headbanger 'Let the Bodies Hit the Floor' with shocking Drowning Pool performance

An 82-year-old headbanger from Broomfield is going viral after proving that you're never too old to sing -- or in this case, scream -- your lungs out. 

John Hetlinger, a retired space engineer who was the program manager for the COSTAR instrument that repaired the Hubble Space Telescope in 1993, wowed all of "America's Got Talent" judges after a whirlwind performance of Drowning Pool's "Bodies." 

Dressed in khaki pants and a short-sleeve, white polo shirt, the karaoke singer greeted the audience with a "Hey, y'all," and told judges he decided to audition at AGT to fulfill "the high point of my life and my many careers." 

With their blessing, Hetlinger then let it rip. Watch the performance below:  

Hetlinger, a former Navy pilot, started his karaoke-singing career about 18 years ago, when he retired from space engineering -- and yes, heavy metal is his preferred choice of genre when performing.

Hetlinger's performance went viral so quickly, in fact, that Drowning Pool offered him a spot on stage.
