An officer with the California Highway Patrol saved two children from a burning car.

The officer was driving behind a car Monday morning when the car suddenly caught on fire.

A nearby driver, a photographer with the Monterey Herald, said the officer turned on his lights and tried to stop the driver of the burning car, but she didn't immediately stop.

When she did, her passenger got out of the car, but left the driver and two children inside.

Officer Kaleo Cissold is seen on video getting one child out of the burning car and handing the child to the passenger while yelling, "Here, take your kid! What are you doing? C'mon!"

Then Cissold went back and rescued a second crying child while yelling at the driver to "get out of the car!"

The driver had to crawl across the front seat and get out using the passenger side door.

Both adults and children were taken to a nearby hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation.
