Shiny legs, The Dress and other optical illusions that have broken the internet

'Once you see it you can't unsee it'

DENVER -- It took more than a year-and-a-half for an optical illusion to break the internet after everyone wondered if "the dress" was blue or white, but as they say: good things come for those who wait.

An image that was posted to Instagram and Twitter this week had the world wondering if suddenly, their eyes had betrayed them.

Bree, who posted the image on Tuesday to Twitter, warned the world that sometimes not everything you see is what it appears to be.

What do you see: Shiny legs or white paint? Some say once you see one, you can't see the other. However, some people on the internet said they were able to switch back and forth. Others said the size of the image was the deciding factor as to what they said.

It's not the first time the internet has gone wild over an optical illusion.

"The Dress"

People went crazy over "the dress" after it was posted on Feb. 26, 2015. Why? They couldn't agree on whether the dress was black and blue or white or gold. This eventually led to "#dressgate."

The "dress dilemma" became such a huge success not only for Twitter or Facebook but for the retailer that sold the dress, as prices for it surged in the weeks following the meme.

While these two optical illusions are the most prominent, another one made the rounds briefly earlier this year.

Can you count the black dots?

Look closely... and tried to count all the black dots you see on the image below:

Well? Were you able to count ALL the dots? If not, you can blame your peripheral vision for that, according to The Verge.
