COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Just before the opening of the National Cybersecurity Center in Colorado Springs, cybersecurity employers want to make sure they have the staff they need -- and they're looking for hundreds of people to fill those jobs.
There's at least 450 job openings and that number is expected to climb, Tatiana Bailey, the director of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Economic Forum, told The Gazette.
Coalfire Systems Inc., a Westminster-based cybersecurity provider, is set to offer unlimited paid time off starting Jan. 1 to help it recruit employees.
While the current efforts will help get people recruited faster into the industry, experts said officials must eventually build a "talent pipeline" starting with high school students interested in the field and then continue training those students with programs such as those offered at Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC), University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, among others, The Gazette reports.
While PPCC has 500 students in computer network and IT programs, the center hopes more programs become avialable for the future.
