GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado plan aims to use the state’s $62 billion outdoor recreation economy in a sustainable way over the next five years.
The Daily Sentinel reports Colorado Parks and Wildlife released Wednesday the 2019 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan, which was a requirement for the state to remain eligible for funding from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.
According to the plan, the state intends to go “beyond federal requirements to capture the state’s top priorities for outdoor recreation.”
The plan identifies recreation priorities, including enhancing outdoor access, promoting stewardship of resources, and conserving lands, waters and wildlife, as well as ensuring there’s enough funding to sustain the state’s outdoors.
