DURANGO, Colo. (AP) -- Sheriff's officials in Montezuma County say they plan to improve security after a man and a woman escaped from court custody.
Sheriff Steve Nowlin says law enforcement officials plan to discuss the problem with state and local court administrators next week.
The Durango Herald reports they will try to find a more secure place to hold suspects and convicts.
An 18-year-old man escaped the courthouse in Cortez in September while he was waiting to be taken from jail. He got into a waiting vehicle.
Earlier this month, a 30-year-old woman escaped after being convicted of possessing a controlled substance. Nowlin says she was caught several days ago.
Nowlin says he has applied for a state grant to boost security officer staff from four to six.
