3 people arrested in Colorado for North Dakota motel homicide

BOWMAN, N.D. -- Three people are in custody in Colorado after a man was found dead in a motel in North Dakota over the weekend.

Police said housekeeping staff at the El-Vu Motel found the body of a man in his early 20s from rural Bowman about midday Saturday. Authorities have ruled the death a homicide. They haven't identified the victim. An autopsy is planned.

A man from Bowman, woman from Bowman and a man from Minnesota were taken into custody Saturday evening in Colorado and were awaiting extradition to North Dakota. They also were not immediately identified. Their exact arrest location was not released.

The Bowman County Pioneerreported that the owner of the motel, Colette Haines, lives in Colorado, but happened to be at the motel this weekend.

Bowman is a small town in the southwestern corner of North Dakota. About 1,650 people live there.
