2016 to be final year for CSU's Hughes Stadium

Posted

As construction of the new on-campus stadium at Colorado State University continues, the university is looking to the Rams final game at Hughes Stadium.

The Coloradoan reports that barring construction complications, the Rams are expected to say goodbye to Hughes in November.

Colorado State has held football games in Hughes Stadium since 1968. The 32,500-seat stadium is located about 2 miles west of CSU's main campus at the base of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

CSU officials say it is unclear what will become of the stadium, but that leaving it dormant doesn't make financial sense.

The new stadium is expected to be completed in time for the 2017 football season.
