Colorado speller Sylvie Lamontagne is going to the finals of the Scripps National Bee Thursday night. This is her second year making it to the top 10.
Sylvie, from Lakewood, spelled sylvilagus, Ayurveda, embolus and bruja correctly on Thursday morning to earn her spot.
However, Thursday morning was too tough for Cameron Keith, of Boulder. After spelling solenoglyphous correctly, he incorrectly spelled noncompos and was knocked out.
Cameron is 10 years old. He's a fourth grader at Boulder's Friends' School. Sylvie is 13 years old and an eighth grader from Creighton Middle School in Lakewood.
