A Pueblo woman who pleaded guilty in the death of her 2-year-old foster daughter has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
The Pueblo Chieftainreports 24-year-old Sarah Finn was sentenced Monday. She pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death under a plea agreement for the August 2014 death of Chassie Pietrolungo.
The toddler had been under the care of Finn and her 37-year-old husband, Paul Finn, when she allegedly suffered a series of falls over a three-day period. An emergency room doctor told police the child was suffering from a brain bleed and had injuries to her face and eyes. She also had extensive bruising to her buttocks, police said.
Prosecutors said the couple was negligent in not seeking immediate medical attention for the child.
Paul Finn was sentenced last year to 10 years of probation in the case.
The Finns were in the process of adopting the child through the Fostadopt program, police said.
Sarah Finn apologized in court Monday, saying she felt ashamed for not doing more to help Chassie.
