DENVER – Thousands of people in Denver are expected to join 150 other cities nationwide Saturday to demand President Donald Trump release his tax returns.

The march, expected to be the second-largest public protest since President Trump took office, is taking place at Civic Center Park at 10 a.m., just three days away from this year’s April 18 tax-filing deadline.

Several speakers including U.S. Representative Jared Polis, Congressman Joseph Salazar and members of the Colorado ACLU will be at attending the event.

Because no protest can go without a symbol, expect to see many inflatable chickens in Denver and across the nation.

According to organizers, the logo will symbolize how Trump is “a chicken” for not releasing his tax returns.

“Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump told the American people he would release his tax returns. Despite intense public pressure, President Trump has not yet done so – breaking with 40 years of precedent in the process. His administration’s excuse? “People don’t care.”

“We do care. Without seeing his tax returns, we have no idea what he’s hiding – shady business deals? Financial ties to foreign countries? Conflicts of interest? – or who his policies are really benefitting,” reads the movement’s website.

The Hill, a D.C.-based political newspaper and website reports the marches will also be taking place in cities such as London and Tokyo.

The idea of the Tax March protests originally came about after Jennifer Taub, a law professor at Vermont Law School, saw a video of White House advisor Kellanne Conway saying Trump would not release his tax returns because voters “didn’t care.”

Taub told the Washington Post Thursday she didn’t expect Trump to release his tax returns, but hoped a large turnout at the nationwide event would pressure Congress into passing legislation forcing elected officials to release their tax returns.
