DENVER – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will host a presidential campaign rally at Denver’s Civic Center Park next Monday, Sept. 9 – the first 2020 stop in Colorado for the winner of Colorado’s 2016 Democratic caucuses.

Monday’s rally at Civic Center Park – which between the state Capitol and City and County Building – will start at 6 p.m. and doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Sanders will be at least the fifth Democratic presidential candidate to make public appearances in Colorado. Sen. Kamala Harris visited Denver in early August, and Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar, and Montana Gov. Steve Bullock have also visited. Cory Booker and former candidate Kirsten Gillibrand attended private fundraisers.

Sanders has nationwide polled among the top of the group of candidates, 10 of whom will take part in another debate in Houston on Sept. 12.

Colorado's primary will be on March 3 next year — Super Tuesday.

He’s made campaign stops in Colorado in support of his presidential campaigns and during the midterms over the past several years. Sanders won the state’s 2016 caucus 59% to Hillary Clinton’s 40%.

Monday’s campaign event will be free and open to the public. People wanting to RSVP with the campaign can do so here. The campaign says entrance is first come, first served.
