George Brauchler not running for Senate

Posted

District Attorney George Brauchler announced Wednesday he is not running for U.S. Senate in 2016, 7NEWS has confirmed.

Braucher told 7NEWS INVESTIGATOR Theresa Marchetta he is focusing on his family and his District Attorney job.

The prosecutor in the Aurora Theater shooting trial was entertaining the idea of running for the Republican nomination in 2016 to challenge U.S. Senator Michael Bennet.

Brauchler, 45, was considered as one of his party's best potential recruits, a telegenic, well-spoken politician with a record of military service, a natural ability to connect with voters and the capacity to raise the minimum $10 million necessary to mount a serious bid.
