Donald Trump named official Republican Nominee

CLEVELAND, Oh. -- Following months of operating under the title of presumptive nominee, Donald Trump can now be called the official Republican party nominee.

The victory came Tuesday, a day after the convention got underway in Cleveland, Ohio. But it wasn't without its bumps and bruises.

Delegates hoping to derail Trump's chances of sealing the victory worked Monday to encourage delegates to vote for any other candidate other than trump, bringing anger on the convention floor to a boiling point. Eventually, the group was defeated, prompting several delegates -- including Colorado's delegates -- to walk out.

Trump's campaign, which recently selected Indiana Governor Mike Pence to serve as the vice presidential running mate, is hoping to defeat presumptive Democratic party nominee Hillary Clinton as the election surges forward.

Clinton has the backing of President Barack Obama, and her former foe Bernie Sanders.
