DENVER -- He's been waving the American flag high above metro area highways since Election Day.

“Freedom!” shouts Jeffrey McNamara, perched on the pedestrian bridge above I-25 at Evans. McNamara says he’s not promoting one political candidate over another, but rather, unity in a time when he says the country needs it most.

“They're talking to me," McNamara said after several passing cars honk. “I stand for liberty, freedom and I'm a proud American patriot."

McNamara has a full-time job, so sometimes he's out here early in the morning or late at night.

”There have been a few cold ones," he said. “I’m here to remind people that it's a beautiful country, despite who's president."

He’s proud to be out here on Inauguration Day.

“And what a beautiful thing. The transition of power happened peacefully," he said.

It's also good exercise.

”It is a good workout. When the wind is blowing, it’s a little tougher," McNamara said.

A nice expression of patriotism from a guy who lost his war veteran father to illness after Vietnam.

"I love America with all my heart," he said.
