Young voters are paying close attention to many issues in this year's presidential election and Rev. Lennox Yearwood, the founder of the Hip Hop Caucus, says environmental issues like climate change rank at the top of the list.

Yearwood appeared on this week's Politics Unplugged on Denver7.

He says young people pay closer attention to what the candidates say than many people think.

The Hip Hop Caucus provides leadership training and civic leadership opportunities for people 14 to 40 who identify with hip hop culture.

Conservation Colorado is honoring Rev. Yearwood with the group's "Rebel with a Cause" award at its gala. The group says Yearwood is a leading voice in the fight against climate change and point to his involvement in a variety of major outreach campaigns including electoral activism and economic empowerment as reasons for the honor.

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4 p.m. on Denver7.
