While there are supporters of the decision, President Donald Trump’s announcement that the U.S. is pulling out of the Paris Climate agreement has not gone over well with much of the country.
KNUS 710 AM radio host Krista Kafer says people need to keep in mind not much may actually change.
“I think we have to keep in mind it doesn’t keep states, localities, businesses, individuals from lowering their carbon output,” she told Anne Trujillo on this week’s Politics Unplugged. “I think we have to be optimistic here in that the country has already lowered its carbon output by going from coal primarily to natural gas and refining hydraulic fracturing so we can get more out. We’ve got wind power, solar… all of these have costs and benefits, but we’ve done more through our country with technology than was possible with say, the Kyoto agreement.”
While that is one of the more serious moments of the week, Kafer does say she really appreciated the lighter moment the president created this week when he tweeted the word “covfefe.”
“I’m actually glad he did it because it was something light, it was funny. I think both the left and the right both laughed at it,” she said. As far as what she think really happened: “I think he butt tweeted the entire country.”
