DENVER – The chair of the political science department at Metropolitan State University of Denver says he always had some reservations about the Iran Nuclear Deal, but he never thought it was as bad as the Trump administration has claimed it to be.

“Now time will show on the repeal of this deal whether it can be replaced with something that is better for the Iranian people, the American people, the region, the world,” Dr. Robert Hazan told Anne Trujillo on this week’s Politics Unplugged.

While Dr. Hazan is not necessarily surprised by the president’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the Iran Nuclear Deal, he is surprised President Trump has agreed to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un next month in Singapore.

“Here is a country that has been an adamant contrarian in terms of everything we thought should be negotiated for peace,” he said. “We hope this is going to lead to something constructive, product, but the great news is the American hostages have been released that there is perhaps a greater chance for peace.”

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30am & 4pm on Denver7 and noon on K3 (KCDO).
