Former Colorado Speaker of the House Mark Ferrandino says changes need to be made to the way Colorado funds schools.
Now the Chief Financial Officer for Denver Public Schools, Ferrandino talked about the problems facing Colorado schools on Politics Unplugged on Denver7 this week.
While lawmakers have found a way to provide what is essentially $18 more per student to schools in the next budget year, Ferrandino said with changes to some of Colorado's laws, that number could go up even more and he admits that a bill he sponsored while in the State House is one of the challenges that lawmakers have to overcome.
Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4 p.m. on Denver7 -- with the exception of Oscar weekend when the show will air at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and a repeat Sunday morning at 11:30.
