President Donald Trump refuted reports that his Miami resort has a bed bug infestation on Tuesday morning.
"No bedbugs at Doral," Trump tweeted. "The Radical Left Democrats, upon hearing that the perfectly located (for the next G-7) Doral National MIAMI was under consideration for the next G-7, spread that false and nasty rumor. Not nice!"
On Monday evening, a 2016 lawsuit from a former guest resurfaced online as Trump discussed hosting the 2020 G7 summit at Trump National Doral Miami, a golf resort he owns. According to the lawsuit, Eric Linder said he was built by bed bugs while staying at one of the villas at the resort. Linder and the Trump Organization settled the lawsuit in 2017.
By Monday evening, #TrumpBedBugs was trending on Twitter.
On Monday, Trump cited the resort's size and proximity to the Miami airport as reasons to host the meetings at his club.
The G7 is an annual meeting of the seven countries with the largest economies, according to the International Monetary Fund. The last time the United States hosted the meetings in 2012, President Barack Obama hosted the event at Camp David in Maryland after originally planning for a meeting in Chicago.
