Tens of thousands of people living in the path of the Bluecut Wildfire have been forced from their homes.

Las Vegas-based KTNV spoke with the people in the town of Hesperia who were waiting things out at a Red Cross shelter set up at a local high school. Many were anxious about their homes and their friends.

"The smoke, it was red, and it looked like it was coming closer to our home. So we decided to come to the shelter," said one evacuee. "I don't know if [our home] is burned down; I don't know anything. I can't get a hold of anybody because there's nobody. Hopefully, they're all gone."

Hesperia is located 15 miles from the wildfire. More than 80,000 people are under evacuation orders due to the fire.
