Search for missing Colorado Springs boy moves north

Posted

EL PASO COUNTY — Search crews are expanding their search for 11-year-old Gannon Stauch, who has been missing for more than two weeks.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPCSO), crews are now looking for the boy in northern El Paso County and southern Douglas County.

On Tuesday, the EPCSO announced that 423 tips have come in from the public, and the office has conducted 2,656 hours of investigative work as of Monday. The tips have contributed to areas deputies have searched to try and find the 11 year-old boy.

"We live in a very good community where when tragedy happens we ban together," said Jacqueline Kirby, public information officer for the EPCSO. "We are not at a point right yet where we need citizen volunteers I still have that database ready to go as soon as detectives tell me that's the need."

In the age of social media, many rumors of the investigation are circulating around and, according to Kirby, hindering the investigation.

Gannon was last seen on Jan. 27, when his stepmother said he left the family home to play at a nearby friend's house.

Earlier this month, iinvestigators received a video from one of the Stauches' neighbors that reportedly shows Gannon's stepmother, Letecia, Stauch, getting into a vehicle with Gannon on the day of his disappearance. The video later shows Letecua Stauch return home without Gannon.

Gannon's family released an emotion interview last week, calling for anyone with information about Gannon's disappearance to come forward.

Gannon was wearing a blue jacket and jeans at the time of his disappearance. He is 4 foot 9 inches and weighs 90 pounds.

Anyone with credible information about where Gannon might be should call the El Paso County Sheriff's Office tip line at 719-520-6666.
