Woman connected to UCLA shooter found dead

<p>Two men who were found dead on UCLA&#39;s campus Wednesday in what police believe was a murder-suicide have now been identified.</p><p>The campus was locked down after a shooting was&nbsp;<a href="http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/police-investigating-possible-shooter-on-campus" target="_blank">reported at a UCLA engineering building</a>&nbsp;and local and federal authorities arrived on campus to search for a possibly active gunman.</p><p>The Los Angeles Police Department identified the suspected shooter as a graduate student named Mainak Sarkar on Thursday.</p><p>Authorities say Sarkar&nbsp;<a href="http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Shooter-UCLA-Murder-Suicide-Shooting-381638281.html" target="_blank">shot and killed William Klug</a>, a mechanical and aerospace engineering professor, who had been one of his teachers. The two reportedly had a strained relationship.</p><p><a href="http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-mainak-sarkar-ucla-20160602-snap-story.html" target="_blank">Los Angeles Times reported</a>&nbsp;Sarkar once accused Klug of stealing a string of computer code he&#39;d created.</p><p>Klug&#39;s friends have&nbsp;<a href="https://www.gofundme.com/27gxk39g" target="_blank">set up a GoFundMe account</a>&nbsp;for his family. He was a father of two children and volunteered as a Little League coach.</p><p>&quot;It&#39;s hard to even fathom it. To have your excuse me to have your son grow up without a dad is rough,&quot; Lance Giroux, a friend of Klug&#39;s,&nbsp;<a href="http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/national-international/UCLA-Campus-Shooting-381536031.html" target="_blank">told KNBC</a>.</p><p>Most UCLA classes resumed Thursday, but engineering classes&nbsp;<a href="http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/two-dead-in-apparent-murder-suicide-at-ucla-campus-responds" target="_blank">have been canceled</a>&nbsp;for the remainder of the week. Students take their finals next week.</p><p>Besides reviewing security measures, UCLA&#39;s provost said the university is&nbsp;<a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/news/ucla-campus-shooting-victim-gunman-safety-protocols/" target="_blank">looking at its classroom doors</a>&nbsp;that open outward. Police in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, say they found a dead woman when Los Angeles police asked them to conduct a welfare check at a local address in connection with the UCLA murder-suicide investigation.

A Brooklyn Park police statement says officers responded early Thursday and found the woman dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

The statement says early indications are that the woman's shooting happened before the UCLA shooting, which occurred at midmorning Wednesday.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck tells KTLA-TV that a "kill list" was found in the Minnesota home of UCLA shooter Mainak Sarkar.

The list contained the names of UCLA engineering professor Bill Klug, who was slain in the murder-suicide, another UCLA professor, and the Minnesota woman. Beck says the other UCLA professor is OK.
