Live updates: Democrats debate in Brooklyn

In the first presidential primary debate in more than a month, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders meet in New York City Thursday evening in what could be the final debate before July's Democratic convention.

The debate will be televised live by CNN beginning at 9 p.m. ET.

Recent polling shows Clinton ahead of Sanders by double figures before Tuesday's primary. Clinton is leading by 13 percent according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday, and by 14 percent in a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday.

But Sanders has gained traction in the state, as he has received a key endorsement this week. He earned the endorsement of the Communication Workers of America, as part of its membership is striking from Verizon. Sanders also had one of the largest rallies of this year's election cycle as an estimated crowd of 27,000 joined him in Manhattan Wednesday evening.

The timing of tonight's debate took some time to work out between the campaigns. Thus far, Republican Party debates have had better ratings than the Democratic Party debates.
