On Thursday morning, Ford Motor Company announced a recall of about 1.6 million vehicles for a potential fire risk.
Ford F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCrew Cab vehicles from 2015 to 2018 are at risk, according to a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The deployment of the driver or passenger seatbelt pretensioners could cause a fire. There have been no reported deaths of injures connected to this.
This recall comes in the wake of a NHTSA safety defect investigation after five vehicle owners complained of alleged fires involving the seatbelt pretensioners.
Ford F-150 SuperCrew and Regular Cab owners are encouraged to keep an eye out for a recall notification from Ford, and take their car to their local shop for the free repair.
