SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An armed man tried to hold up a 7-Eleven store in San Diego early Monday morning, but he left the business empty-handed after the clerk refused to give him money.

San Diego police said the incident happened at about 3:45 a.m. at the 7-Eleven store in the 6400 block of Mission Gorge Road.

According to police, a black-bearded man with a backpack walked into the store and pointed a silver gun at the clerk as he demanded cash.

However, the clerk told the armed man no. After another cash demand from the armed man, the clerk once again refused.

The armed man left the store, and police are searching for him.

A complete description of the man was not immediately available.

The clerk told San Diego-based KGTV, "There was no way he was going to get the money."
