GEORGETOWN, Colo. -- A wanted teenager was arrested after being spotted speeding on Interstate 70 and leading officers on a high speed chase.
Georgetown Police said an officer on eastbound I-70 at 9 p.m. Wednesday was using radar to check driver's speeds when a car sped by at 110 miles per hour.
The officer caught up to the driver in traffic about four miles away.
"The vehicle pulled over but immediately sped away, a short pursuit of the vehicle ensued, but was terminated due to the dangerous speeds," Georgetown Police said.
About six miles away, the driver came upon a Colorado State Patrol car.
"The fleeing vehicle, apparently deliberately, attempted to cause the CSP vehicle to crash," Georgetown Police said. "The fleeing vehicle continued to a point that it crashed and the driver fled on foot."
Police said the driver, later identified as a fugitive juvenile, was found in the dark, mountain terrain.
The teen was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
