Loveland hopes to make snow this weekend

Posted

Loveland Ski Area's snowmaking team hopes to start making snow this weekend.

"A cold front is moving this way and we’re hoping to start snowmaking operations sometime this weekend," Loveland said on its website.

Loveland brings in professional snowmakers from New Zealand to work with its local crews to make snow each fall.

Loveland says it needs a full, top-to-bottom run covered from tree-to-tree with an 18″ base to open for the season.

Loveland races each year with Arapahoe Basin Ski Area to be the first in the nation to open. Arapahoe Basin saidlast month that its snow guns were ready to make snow as soon as temperatures drop.

Loveland makes snow on 240 acres of terrain and snowmaking is usually completed in the first week of December, officials said.
