EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. -- A woman accused of following her boyfriend and shooting at him after an argument has been sentenced to community corrections.

Investigators said Jennifer Clark, 42, came home on August 25, 2015 and had a verbal argument with her live-in boyfriend that caused him to leave.

"Clark followed the victim outside to a picnic table, and firing a .40 caliber handgun at her boyfriend," the 5th Judicial District Attorney's Office said in a statement sent to Denver7.

The boyfriend was not hit or hurt and Clark was arrested at a nearby restaurant.

Clark was sentenced to three years in community corrections for felony menacing with a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and prohibited use of a weapon.

"After Monday’s sentencing, we are glad to put an end to this violent act of domestic violence,” said District Attorney Bruce Brown. "The extraordinary violence of firing a gun at an unarmed person is just crazy and deserving of a significant loss of liberty. Gratuitous violence of any sort is unacceptable but shooting at a supposed love one is just unimaginable."
