ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. -- A Greeley hiker died Saturday after falling more than 100 feet to this death in Rocky Mountain National Park.
The 61-year-old man who has not been identified fell approximately 100 to 150 feet, after apparently slipping on ice along The Narrows section on the Keyhole Route, according to Rocky Mountain National Park spokesman Kyle Patterson.
Park rangers were notified of the incident via cell phone by visitors who were in the area when the fall occurred.
Rangers were then flown to the summit of Longs Peak via helicopter and reached the man's body at approximately 4 p.m. His body was recovered after more than an hour by rangers, Patterson said.
The hiker's name will be released after next of kin have been notified.
