Arapahoe Basin is getting ready for ski season. Workers tested the snowmaking equipment this week on the High Noon run.

"We know, we know… it’s barely even autumn, and we’re already trying to make winter arrive in Colorado," Arapahoe Basin officials said.

ABasin officials said it's not cold enough yet to start snowmaking, but they wanted to make sure their equipment is functioning properly and to train their snowmaking team.

Traditionally, snowmaking begins at Arapahoe Basin in the first week of October. It takes approximately 10 to 14 days of snowmaking to get the first trail ready to open.

Last season, Arapahoe Basin opened on October 17.
