DENVER — It’s no surprise that lots of residents in Colorado enjoy climbing big mountains, but some of those outdoor enthusiasts are taking the challenge indoors for a race up Denver's tallest skyscraper.
Registration for the Fight for Air Climb, which is organized by the American Lung Association in Colorado, opened on Tuesday.
Individuals, families and groups of friends are invited to race up the stairs of the Republic Plaza, Colorado’s tallest skyscraper, on March 3. It’s 56 floors tall, which equates to 1,098 steps.
The funds from the climb will help raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.
“This is the perfect time to start building your team, training and fundraising for the Fight For Air Climb,” said Ellen Penrod, executive director of the Lung Association. “Stair climbing is an additional way to stay active during winter months, and provides a fun activity for families, team building for corporate teams and a fundraising activity for students. The Fight For Air Climb brings the community together to fight for something that impacts us all — clean air and healthy lungs.”
More than 608,000 Coloradans have lung disease.
The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research and funds critical local programing aimed at helping children manage their asthma and teens and adults quit smoking.
To register, visit the American Lung Association’s website here or call 303-388-4327. Registration is $30 until Jan. 30, $35 until Feb. 27 and $40 on the day of the event.
