DENVER – A feature that many passengers have been waiting years for has arrived. RTD announced Thursday real-time bus tracking through its website.
The feature, called Next Ride, is availableon the transit service’s website and incorporates real-time data to provide arrival predictions for bus and vehicle locations for light rail.
RTD says the feature does not require a separate download from a third-party app store. The feature is live on the website and optimized for mobile devices.
Predictions will be available 30 minutes before the start of a trip and the system will provide updates at least every 30 seconds. Services are not yet available for commuter rail which includes the University of Colorado A Line and the B Line.
While real-time information has been available through third-party services, this is the first time RTD is offering the information directly through its site.
